HIS BEARD WORRIES HIM

Accused of Murder at 70, Fears He Will Lose It.

Pottsville, Pa., Dec. 21 — Thomas Keating, 70-year-old alleged murderer, in the county jail here, is not worrying so much about going to the electric chair, he stated, as he is about the fear that prison regulations will require the removal of his long, flowing white beard and his long hair, which falls over his shoulders.

Keating has been told by friends that, as his crime last Saturday was not premeditated, he cannot be convicted of first degree murder. “But wouldn’t it be a shame to deprive an old man of his hair,” he said.
