Four Teachers Join School Faculty
Four new teachers have joined the faculty of Columbia Street School this year, according to the three supervisors of elementary education, Miss Margaret E. Doak, Miss Elizabeth I. Flake, and Miss Mary E. Straw.
Charles A. Harclerode, who has been living in Shanksville, Pa., in Somerset County, is teaching a combination fifth and sixth grade. He fills the position vacated with the retirement of Mrs. Rosemarie S. Ambrose.
He was graduated from Hyndman—Londonderry High School in 1954 and from Slippery Rock (Pa.) State College in 1963. He has taught at Shanksville the last three years.
Mrs. Irene C. Kuykendall, 964 National Highway, LaVale, is a new fifth grade teacher at Columbia Street. She was graduated from Webster Springs, W. Va., High School in 1938, then attended Fairmont (W. Va.) State College and West Virginia Wesleyan College. She taught four years in West Virginia in the 1940s. She returned to Frostburg State College and obtained her degree there in June.
She succeeds Mrs. Barbara B. Skinner, who resigned because she has moved to Blacksburg, Va., with her husband.
Mrs. Mary Murrell Twigg, 513 Lowell Avenue, is a new first grade teacher. She succeeds Mrs. Emma R. Young, who has resigned from full—time teaching. She was graduated from Allegany High School in 1962 and Frostburg State College in 1966. She did her practice teaching at Oldtown.
Also new to the Columbia Street School faculty is Mrs. Mary Larkin Keating, 87 Mt. Pleasant Street, Frostburg. Last year, she was employed as a remedial teacher under the Federal program at John Humbird School.
Mrs. Keating was graduated from Beall High School in 1940, from Frostburg State College in 1944 and has taken graduate work at the University of Maryland. She has taught six years, five in Montgomery County and one year in Mt. Savage.
