On the Keating mailing list, Tom Keating wrote of an upcoming family reunion for descendants of his great-grandfather, Michael Keating:
I have been advised that is to be a family reunion of  the descendants of my gr-grandfather, Michael Keating, (1834-1906, see below) in 2011. If you believe that you are related to our branch of Keatings, please contact me.  My grandfather is John, b. 1879.
Unfortunately, the mailing list dropped the attachment containing Michael’s immediate family. I’ve included it after the fold…
Tom writes that there were about 200 people at the 2006 reunion, including family from Australia, Europe, UK, and the USA.
Anyone going?
Hi Tom,
I am extreeeeeeemely excited to leave a comment for you. I am a relative of John’s (1801-1847) brother James Keating (1784 Kildorrery -16 May 1869 Campbelltown, Sydney, Australia) and would love to know more about the reunion.
I will email you as soon as I get back to Australia. Yipppppeeeeee! I was struggling to find John’s families (still looking for William & Mary Ryan) so you have made my day.
Helen
The reunion is now scheduled for Aug. It is taking place on Sunday 4th August 2013 (bank holiday weekend) in – Springfort Hall,
Doneraile, Co Cork. It is in conjunction with ‘The Gathering Ireland 2013’ –

My gx2 great grandmother was Johannah Keating who married Peter Paul Mahony at ss Peter and Paul’s in Cork City in May 1854.
I’m afraid I have no further details but I do have DNA links to families such as Daly, Donovan, Hart, Gubbins and Ryan.
Has any member of the Keating clan tested with FTDNA for FamilyFinder or with 23andme?
Thanks
Finbar
Finbar,
Although I haven’t (yet), there are a number of Keatings who are registered with FamilyTreeDNA. See the group page at http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Keating/.
Cheers!
John
There are some Daly descendants in our Keating group
I am from Ireland and believe that Constance Keating was married to James P Mc Nally.,James Pwas the son of James A Mc Nally ,who was a grand uncle of my late mother Anne Mc Nally
There are no McNallys as far as I know in our group. I have not done the DNA test. I don’t know about others in our group. I inquired about the test to find out if it included testing for Cystic Fibrosis gene. It does not. Two of my 3 grandchildren have CF and CF doctors told us the test is too expensive for people no longer of child bearing age. No one else in our group has CF.
What a hell of a fail! I always wanted to come to Ireland (I’m from France) and now i came i just saw the reunion was yesterday whereas im here !!
im going to Baldwinstowncastle tomorrow just to see it 🙂
We are quite a few Keatings over here in France (Hart de Keating and Bax de Keating). What happened is that the family left Ireland because of the great famina and spread between Mauritius and France (and now South Africa). There were only two girls left and the name was about to die so one got married to a Bax and the other one to a Hart thats how we got our surnames.
Id very much like to have contacts here in Ireland, im so upset i missed the occasion! But realizing one of my dream (seeing the Keatings castle) on my birthday is going to be magical !
Where is Keating castle located? There were 150 attendees at the reunion. There are 268 descendants.
I expect that Louise is talking about the castle in Baldwinstown. This is the most common castle associated with the Keating family, although there are others that have links to the Keating name.
Thanks for the info and links.
