OBITUARY

SMYTH, WILLIAM J. “BILL” William J. “Bill” Smyth of Arvada, a retired Deputy Supervisor with the Denver Motor Vehicle Department, passed away June 18, 2002 at Garden Terrace Nursing Center, Aurora. Bill was born Sept. 4, 1919 in Chelsea, MA, to James Smyth and Josephine Keating. Bill graduated from Chelsea HS in 1939 and joined the U.S. Army, being stationed at Camp Hale, Co. He retired after 30 years of military service. Bill married Eileen Flanagan in 1971; she is now a resident of Columbine Gardens Assisted Living. He enjoyed fishing, camping and skiing. Bill was active with the Sons of Norway and the 99th Infantry Battalion (Sep). Bill was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters; he is survived by three children, David, Ellen and Kevin, and three stepsons, Richard, Gerald, and Michael Flanagan; and several grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Memorial Service, Tuesday, 12 p.m., Drinkwine Family chapel. Inurnment to Fort Logan. In lieu of flowers, donations to: The Sons of Norway or the Alzheimers Association.
