Mr. James F. “Buddy” Keating, a resident of Andover for almost 40 years and beloved husband of the late Mary A. (Kearns) Keating, passed away on Wednesday evening, September 20, 2017. He was 82 years old.

He was born December 20, 1934 and grew up in Charlestown, Massachusetts. He was the beloved son of the late Henry Keating and Lillian (Campbell) Taylor. Mr. Keating was a 20 year veteran of the US Air Force and flew in military aircraft as a Navigator during the Korean and Vietnam wars for which he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal. He also served in the Marine Corps.

In civilian life, James obtained his Master’s degree and worked as a Computer Programmer for Bank of Boston and AT&T. He also worked for the IRS until his retirement. In his spare time, Mr. Keating enjoyed visiting the Cape with his family, going out for breakfast on the weekends and loved to read and watch anything to do with history. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving daughters; Jackie Keating of Londonderry, New Hampshire and Heather Keating of Andover, siblings; Mary Jo Keating, Donald and his wife Barbara Keating, Thomas Keating and Patricia Machado, all of Charlestown and many nieces and nephews. He was also father of the late James F. Keating, Jr., the step-son of the late George Taylor and brother of the late William Keating.

His Funeral will be held in St. Patrick Church, 118 S. Broadway, Lawrence on Monday, September 25, 2017, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, prior to the service, from 9 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be held in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
