- [S586] Cassie Kilroy Thompson, "Keatings in Texas, Maryland," e-mail to John W. Keating III, 29 July 2009, "From the 1927 St. Joseph's Jubilee book I have the following convoluted paragraph:
Keating, John, is still remembered in Texas as a master stone mason. He was the father of John and Thomas who were identified with everything connected with St. Joseph's Church. John and Thomas were born in Ireland. Thomas came to Texas in 1847, and remained here until his death on May 19, 1902. His wife, Hannora (Hennigan) died twenty years before on November 10, 1882.' There were ten children, of whom five are living: Katie, wife of John Murray; Ella, wife of Thomas Conway; Jennie, wife of John T. Shea; Thomas F., who married Rose McLaughlin, and William J., husband of Johanna Maguire. Mrs. Annie Fallon, daughter, a very active worker in St. Josepli's parish, and John H., husband of Mary Ann Connor, are deceased. John Keating joined his brother in Texas in 1849. He died March 1, 1869. His wife Jennie (O'Rourke) died on April 19, 1861. A grandson, William J., born in Texas, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for heroism in the World War, the day before be was killed in action. At the time of his death he was Captain."
