John Hobbs was born on 30 March 1801.1,2,4,5 He was the son of Charles Exlam Hobbs and Elizabeth Ogle.3 John Hobbs married Eleanor DeVilbiss, daughter of John DeVilbiss and Rebecca Elder, on 30 June 1822.6,7 John Hobbs died on 17 July 1879 at Emmitsburg, Frederick County, Maryland, USA, at age 78.1,2,8,9 He was buried at St. Anthony's Cemetery.10
